The Schuylkill Haven High School football team got off to a strong start this season with a 34-6 victory over Panther Valley, demonstrating the Panthers’ offensive struggles while asserting their own dominance on both sides of the ball.
Early Struggles for Panther Valley
Panther Valley (0-1) scored early in the first quarter with six points but was unable to mount any further offense, failing to score in the final three quarters. Schuylkill Haven (1-0), on the other hand, methodically built their lead, scoring six points in the second quarter, seven in the third, and an impressive 21 points in the fourth quarter to secure the 28-point win.
Statistical Breakdown
The game highlighted a clear disparity in yardage. Schuylkill Haven amassed 508 total yards compared to Panther Valley’s 218, including 381 rushing yards and 127 passing yards. Panther Valley managed only 129 rushing yards and 89 passing yards, a reflection of the tough defensive effort by Schuylkill Haven.
Tackling was nearly even, with Panther Valley recording 66 tackles to Schuylkill Haven’s 65. However, Schuylkill Haven’s defense contributed three sacks, while Panther Valley recorded none.
