Shady Side Academy Cruises Past Burrell in Season Opener

Pittsburgh, PA – The Shady Side Academy (SSA) varsity football team opened their 2025-26 season with a decisive 28-6 victory over Burrell in a non-conference matchup.

Shady Side Academy, ranked 6,260th nationally and 249th in Pennsylvania in Class 22, came into the game 1-0 overall, while Burrell, ranked 9,218th nationally and 386th in Pennsylvania in Class 59, fell to 0-1 with the loss.

The game remained close in the first half, with SSA holding an 8-0 lead after the second quarter. The Panthers added six points in the third quarter and exploded for 14 in the fourth, sealing the 28-6 win. Burrell’s only points came late in the fourth quarter.
