Acton-Boxborough Opens Season at Home Against Somerville

ACTON, Mass. — The Acton-Boxborough Colonials are set to open their 2025 high school football season this afternoon with a non-conference matchup against the Somerville Highlanders. Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 4 p.m. at Acton-Boxborough High School.

Both programs begin the new campaign looking to establish momentum early. Acton-Boxborough enters the season ranked No. 229 in Massachusetts and No. 33 in its division, while Somerville comes in at No. 263 in the state and No. 29 in its division.

The teams do not share many opponents this fall, but both will face Cambridge Rindge & Latin later in the season—Somerville on Thanksgiving Day and Acton-Boxborough in mid-October—giving fans a chance to compare results down the road.

With both sides eager to shake off the offseason and set a competitive tone, today’s matchup promises an energetic start for the Colonials and Highlanders alike. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. in Acton.
